(Crabtree Falls - George Washington National Forest - 3 Nov 2005 - 034) In this photo, we can clearly see that the water does not fall in a smooth or uniform manner; it sort of bounces and splashes its way down the mountain.  To the right of the photo, we can see the splashes extending out from the upper falling water, and on the step, we can see the wave action caused by this irregular flow.
