All of God's creatures have rights, a fact that most people don't seem to recognize.
This includes both human and non-human animals, but not all of them can speak for themselves.
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord his creatures keep
Safe from harm and danger fate
I pray the Lord his creatures take
To a place of love and kind
Where only peace will they find
In His presence filled with light
No more hunger, no more fright.
As I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord no creatures weep
But only dwell in loving hands
And find respect of Godly man,
To know the love of His great earth
With pelt and flesh and bone no worth,
Not as game or sport or hunted
But to live as God intended
With dream and slumber shall I breathe
I pray the Lord my prayer receive
And should I die before I wake
I pray the Lord my creatures take.
AMEN
