Poems of compassion dedicated to the non-human animals who share this planet with us and the people who fight for them.
See Who's on Your Plate? on youtube.
Hey you, who’s that on your plate?
Sorry but I really must berate,
Whose flesh was that I wonder?
Killed right after they stunned her,
and why is it you fail to see,
that fateful blow of machete,
which brought that one life to an end,
if only you could but comprehend!
But alas you sit there dauntless, you do not have a clue,
of how you are about to be, unto yourself untrue.
So feast upon your carrion,
pretend you are barbarian,
creature culinarian!
But while you do that stop and think,
of the being who with wine you drink,
and know that she was just like you, with hopes and all her dreams,
a life abused from one day old that ended in her screams.
