On July 31 - August 1 the Moscow State Circus will be
performing at the Murray Skating Center, 348 Tuckahoe Rd, in Yonkers
www.moscowcircusstars.com
. This is an ANIMAL-FREE circus; their motto is "people entertaining
people;" their website specifies they don't use animals. Their admission fee
is the going rate (as opposed to the pricey Cirque de Soleil) and it appears
to be a charming show.
PLEASE CONTACT THE MEMBERS OF YONKERS CITY GOVERNMENT;
THANK THEM FOR HAVING AN ANIMAL-FREE CIRCUS HERE (though this circus wasn't
brought in by Yonkers and isn't under the Parks Dept domain, the govt.
should be strongly encouraged to only use animal-free circuses - Mayor
Amicone, during the Mayoral debate, cited his
intention to bring in an animal-user circus; he claimed, however, that he
was willing to look at information).
During the next few weeks we will be meeting with the
Westchester Board of Legislators to discuss traveling animal acts, which is
being arranged by member Louise Simmons. We will be dwelling on PUBLIC
SAFETY, including the fact that tuberculin elephants are being snuck past
inspections and brought to rides and performances; you should mention the
PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUE as well:
