CBS: the 'threat' of bears
On tonight's local 6 o'clock news, CBS Channel 2 in
NYC, they covered the effort to repeat the bear hunt in New Jersey. News
anchor Maurice Dubois closed the report by saying "The hunt was established
to address the threat the bears are to humans."
A complaint to the news room received the response that
Maurice Dubois was 'merely' reading from a teleprompter.
The bears are a threat mainly to garbage; I believe
there isn't one recorded instance in NJ of a black bear attacking humans.
People and urban sprawl are far more of a threat to the bears.
