WAL-MART NEEDS TO HEAR FROM YOU

Wal-Mart Stores are currently airing a television commercial featuring two students discussing their excitement for the upcoming school year. One girl expresses her anticipation at the prospect of dissecting a frog.

Please contact Wal-Mart concerning this inappropriate promotion of the cruel, wasteful and obsolete act of animal dissection. New research shows that there is a very strong link between cruelty to animals and violence toward humans. Dissection is one component of that link in condoning harmful acts to animals and desensitizing students to violence toward animals.

One of NAVS' most popular programs is our Dissection Alternatives Loan Program, which allows schools, teachers and students to borrow technologically advanced CD-ROMs and software, life-like models, instructional videos and lab books which preserve the hands-on approach, but in a humane way.

Wal-Mart prides itself on striving to maintain a high level of ethical principles. Wal-Mart's commitment to environmental conservation, for example, demonstrates that being a good corporate citizen is also good business. Science education has evolved and Wal-Mart should be promoting the advancement of more innovative and humane teaching tools.

Please contact Wal-Mart and urge them to withdraw this commercial from local and national broadcasts:
