Bullriding Gum Commercial

A new commercial for EXTRA gum features a live bullriding event, in which the gum is superimposed 'riding' the bucking bull.

The Wrigley Company sent the following response to our complaint:

Date: Tue, Apr 18 2006 8:07:22 AM -0400

Thank you for writing to express your opinion about our ads for Extra Cool Watermelon gum.

Because the purpose of all Wrigley advertising is to win friends for our company and its products, we certainly like to know whenever anyone has some objection to one of our ads, and we appreciate hearing from you.

Your point of view, along with other comments we have received about this campaign, will be carefully considered.

We certainly appreciate your support.  Thanks again for contacting the Wrigley Company.

Sincerely,

Melissa Griffin
Consumer Affairs Representative

Apparently Melissa wasn't being sincere; the commercial is still running a week later.

Please add your voice; bullriding is a miserable rodeo event in which a bull (or horse) is shocked, hit, has his tail twisted in the chute and a rope cinched tightly near his genitals to make him appear wild and 'buck.'  visit www.sharkonline.org for more info.
