Contact National Enquirer Magazine Regarding Child Bullfighter The NATIONAL ENQUIRER is a very popular family-oriented tabloid magazine.
A few weeks ago they gave some compassionate coverage to SHARK'S anti-rodeo
effort; unfortunately in the 7/31 issue they feature a full-page piece
celebrating a child bullfighter (www.nationalenquirer.com)
It is accompanied by a photo of this poor animal with lances in his back,
bowed before the child torturer. This article is not available online - here
is a portion: 'He's the worlds youngest matador - no bull!' By John Blosser He stands in the ring armed only with a red cape and small sword. His
opponent is an angry 400-pound, razor-horned animals whose instinct is to
charge and gore. The matador holds his sword in the air, fearless, ready to
do battle. And he is only 9 years old. He began at age 4. "He has great intuition and bullfighting comes easy to him," say his
instructors. "He will become a great bullfighting figure in the next
decade. He's got it in his blood." Recently a 'Vaquilla' - a cow with horns - lifted the boy and threw him
to the ground. Fortunately two adult bullfighters distracted the animal
before any harm was done. ####### This distressing article, which promotes child cruelty, makes ABSOLUTELY
NO REFERENCE to the vast animal protection effort - even within Spain itself
- to put a stop to this brutal, heartless blood sport. It is a totally
praiseful puff piece that has NO PLACE in a family-oriented weekly magazine.
