According to The Journal News, the Teatown 'Nature Preserve' plans to hire sharpshooters to kill deer

Teatown's mission statement: 'Education: Teatown offers environmental education programs to 20,000 adults and children each year and has 15+ miles of gorgeous hiking trails.

The article says Teatown is hiring killers since they are less expensive than birth control. Of course they are putting a 'generous' spin on this disgraceful activity by donating the dead deer to a food pantry.

Please remind Teatown what a 'nature preserve' is. There is no 'environmental education' in hiring killers to kill animals - period. It is negligent of Teatown to ignore a supposed 'problem' so that they can happily bring in hunting killers to deal with it. Please politely contact Teatown asap and tell them to implement humane programs that don't use killing - or shut the facility down; they need to use birth control methods which are being used successfully in the Westchester Village of Hastings, NY, as well as fencing, etc. It appears that they get govt funding, which we are trying to verify. They list several events on their website, including 'wine tasting' and 'plant sales' - this slaughter will likely not be on the list.
