Please politely tell executive director Kevin Carter, a person with no environmental training, that you will not donate to slaughter, you will tell your friends not to donate to Teatown, you will not give a dime to Teatown under any circumstances until they stop murdering wildlife. Tell Teatown management this is an easy decision for any decent person to make.
Teatown Nature 'Preserve' is begging for money from the public, and citing the 'difficult decisions' that they made to slaughter deer as the reason they need more money!
"Environmental Stewardship: We are making difficult decisions to protect the
biodiversity of our preserve. And we will continue to make them. We must."
(Note: 'Protect biodiversity' is code for killing any living beings they
want to).
SHOT FOR A TULIP: How are these people asking for more money to kill more
animals?? This is as pathetic excuse to continue needless killing - at a
nature preserve no less - that we've ever seen. Teatown should be honest and
place a photo of one of the deer they killed on their 'donations' page
instead of the lovely picture of a flower.
THIS WAS A BAD-SCIENCE EFFORT: Killing is never the answer, and data
indicates a rebound effect, the phenomenon of 'twinning', etc, which shows
slaughter is ineffective, apart from being unethical. Furthermore, as has
been reported, only 11 deer were slaughtered at Teatown this winter - in
which food bait was placed - tho their count was wildly off at at least 75;
if there's a 'multitude of starving deer destroying the forest,' where were
they - when food was there for them?? Many area residents report never
seeing deer at all - so what's really going on? Why does Teatown insist on
continuing a slaughter contract with the USDA?
The killing must stop: This was not a 'difficult decision' for Teatown to
make - it was the easiest, it allowed them to take the lazy way out and
spend less of Teatown's million dollar budget. Teatown should only employ
people committed to humane treatment of animals at its' nature preserve.
Please politely tell executive director Kevin Carter, a person with no
environmental training, that you will not donate to slaughter, you will tell
your friends not to donate to Teatown, you will not give a dime to Teatown
under any circumstances until they stop murdering wildlife. Tell Teatown
mgmt this is an easy decision for any decent person to make. Thank you!
