Rep. Lowey Lied - Animals Die

We Urge Voters to Avoid Lowey in the Polls - 'Anyone but Lowey'

Westchester County, NY   Almost one year ago, at the request of Westchester4Geese, Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D - 17th District) said she was going to introduce a bill that would require transparency and accountability of the USDA prior to the controversial wildlife slaughters they now conduct with impunity.  It is a dynamic, comprehensive bill, created by her aide Shira Siegal, who has since left.

Now, after a year of stringing us along about when it will be introduced and requesting an accounting for our members at election time, we have been informed that Lowey has lied about the bill and does not intend to present it - it was merely created to placate our office and make her look like she was doing something.

Our entire experience with Lowey's office has been horribly lacking, since our first outreach years ago:  They always 'lost' our requests (how can you lose paperwork six times??) hoping we'd get discouraged and go away....always promised to 'call us back' and never did, not once, after repeated followup on our part.  Rep. Lowey would announce early morning weekend 'community meetings' in the street that that she never showed up for, instead sending an aide...who would 'make a note' of our concerns and promise to follow up - with zero followup. Never.  Not once.

A few years ago we attended a political function in White Plains strictly and solely to speak with her about animal issues, which she had consistently avoided:  She was busy with other attendees who were complimenting pictures of her grandchildren - and when we broached our topic she looked at us like we were from another planet...then she quickly and unceremoniously moved away.

Citizens and politicians are protesting taxpayer-driven USDA wildlife slaughters all over the country:

'This career politician could have made a difference: Because of her lie the USDA/Wildlife Services remains empowered; because of her lie, cowardice and negligence, animals will continue to be slaughtered here by the USDA. She strung us along for a year with her lie about a bill that would save animals - but when it came time to make an actual decision - she reneged.

'We were warned about her by another animal advocate who begged Lowey to not call in the USDA to kill coyotes and offered to help humanely resolve human/animal conflicts free of charge...and he was ignored, while she instead made the lethal choice with the USDA.

Lowey also gives funding to the NIH, which conducts some of the most gruesome, unnecessary animal testing imaginable. She was afraid to introduce this bill and lose voter support among her USDA buddies.

Her aide Matthew Rowland now wants to know 'what else she can help us with.' She can help us by stepping down from her congressional seat and letting someone else - anyone else - bring a new, honest voice here. We urge humane, caring voters to vote for anyone but her.'
