PLEASE COMPLAIN! Senator Mayer pushes 'Fish Killing for Youth Health' event again

 'Fish Hut is a 501c3 nonprofit focused on promoting youth mental health through fishing, one fish at a time. Fish Hut makes a positive impact on more than 10 thousand kids each year through active partnerships with NY State Parks, Greenburgh Nature Center and others. This year, beginning in June and running through August, Fish Hut is holding its largest New York Free Youth Fishing Festival. Lots of prizes are available, and every kid who registers will receive a free cupcake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.'

THIS IS A CRUELTY EVENT: Where is the PROOF that killing fish 'benefits youth health'? FACT: Fish are sentient, intelligent and sociable. FACT: A hungry animal is tempted by food attached to a sharp hook. Where's the 'sport'? FACT: The fish suffocates when he is pulled out of the water. Kids get 'free cupcakes' for doing this.

At very least Mayer should be decent and include a msg telling participants to clean up after their gear - which is frequently carelessly dumped, causing serious injury to wildlife. Mayer also happily rode a carriage horse, whip in hand, at Yonkers Raceway; Mayer has abandoned the humane community which has supported her.

PLEASE POLITELY ASK REP. MAYER TO REMOVE HER SUPPORT FROM THIS AND ALL ANIMAL CRUELTY EVENTS!

Fish are sentient, intelligent and sociable. This is a cruelty event: Killing fish is not a 'teaching tool' for anyone, esp children; Senator Mayer should only be promoting events that teach compassion, kindness and respect for other living beings, and she has not. Every child who enters this gets a cupcake. *The event is done in conjunction with Greenburgh Nature Center, home of the bow and arrow shooting contest for 'children's relaxation.'

Please contact Senator Mayer and politely ask her to not publicize events that promote cruelty. She was previously seen at Yonkers Raceway on a horse with a whip in her hand; we expect better from all our representatives.
