In early October ADOW asked Westchester County Executive Kenneth Jenkins to opt out of the new Crossbow Bill enacted recently by the NYS Legislature S6360. We reported that Somers, NY had already opted out of this disgraceful bill:

We cited the problems the bill poses, including serious and avoidable Westchester liability, safety and related issues, plus adding extreme and avoidable cruelty to animals. Crossbow hunting also gives hunters an even more unfair advantage against the animals because it almost eliminates the 'Fair Chase' aspect of hunting. Even though less than 4 percent of the U.S. population hunts, nonhunters are forced to share many wildlife refuges, national forests, state parks, and other public lands with individuals using equipment that looks like its from a war zone.
At that time Westchester County Executive Kenneth Jenkins said he would review the legislation and get back to us.
PLEASE CONTACT CE JENKINS AND POLITELY ASK HIM TO OPT OUT OF THE NEW CROSSBOW BILL. Westchester is way too intelligent and compassionate to add needless liability and suffering.
