We rock NBC-Friday Report about Bullriding
Just when I was ready to hang up my activist britches,
the tiny army's ranks swell and we kick NBC's butt!!! Thank you Ardele,
Blair, Richard, Hugh, Marisa, Allison - and the ten young Arkansas teens who
asked if they could help, picked up signs and gave literature to EVERYONE, I
mean no one could pass these kids without leaving with bullriding
information!
Interesting education for us here...they were a little
raucous at first and seemed like they might be mocking us, but I took a
chance when they asked if they could help. And though they needed to but
advised to say 'genitals' instead of 'balls' and to stop a little dance they
began - they did everything we asked, made up their own chants ('Ride
bicycles instead of bulls!' 'How would you like it if some cowboy was riding
on your back?') took pictures of each other wearing our signs, and made sure
passing cars saw signs that said HOW
DO YOU SPELL CRUELTY? N B C and BUCK THE RODEO with the
awful picture of the filthy cowboys tormenting a bull.
No AR employees with offices within walking distance
helped, though they were asked directly; well, that is between you people
and whatever God you serve. We gave out over 400 pieces of literature on
Friday. We weren't hassled by NBC security or police, as we were previously;
I think they finally saw there was no point. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR
