ACTION
No matter how large or state-of-the-art this proposed tank might be, a man-made enclosure can never replicate their natural ocean environment. Orcas suffer mental and physical distress in captivity, where they’re utterly deprived of their most basic needs.
Take this opportunity to stand up for captive orcas by expressing your concern to the California Coastal Commission!
Stop SeaWorld from Constructing Another Cruel Orca Enclosure!
INFORMATION
There's no denying that SeaWorld is feeling the backlash from Blackfish, a documentary released in 2013 that explores the negative effects of orca captivity. SeaWorld's stocks are down, attendance is down, and profits are down. However, instead of listening to the public and making the humane decision to retire its orcas into ocean sea pens, SeaWorld has applied for a permit to build a new tank absurdly called the Blue World Project.
The California Coastal Commission will accept public comments until October, when it will hold a hearing to decide whether or not to grant the permit to SeaWorld. Please urge the Commission to deny SeaWorld's permit to construct the Blue World Project!
