ACTION

Once again Woodland Park Zoo has its hand out for tax payer welfare. Now it's looking to get $36 million dollars in the upcoming King County Parks Levy which will be on the August ballot.

HELP STOP this outrageous amount of hard earned tax dollars going to the Zoo by emailing to these decision makers NOW.

Just one line will do!

TALKING POINTS

  • I love our PUBLIC parks and that's where I want my tax dollars to go - not the PRIVATE Woodland Park Zoo.
  • The Zoo has received over $51 million dollars from King County taxpayers already. In addition, Seattle taxpayers (who are also King County taxpayers) have forked over $133 million dollars to the Zoo since 2002. The Zoo also benefits from rent-free use of the valuable land on which it sits, rent-free buildings, and free ownership of its inventory, the animals. ENOUGH!
  • Woodland Park Zoo's gate attendance has declined over the past decade. People are not supporting the caging and suffering of wild animals as they once did so its time to STOP financially supporting the Zoo.
  • Seeing wildlife in captivity does NOT teach Zoo visitors to care about wildlife. The zoo industry's own research shows little proof validating the Zoo's time-worn claim that one needs to see wild animals to care about them.
  • Seeing wildlife in captivity teaches kids the wrong message. We have humane ways to learn about animals. No more money to the Zoo until it begins to transition away from caging wild animals.

Thank you for everything you do for animals!
