This coming Friday, August 8, we pause to remember Mary T. Hoffman, who would have celebrated her 88th birthday this year. As co-founder of All-Creatures.org alongside her husband Frank in 1998, Mary brought her convictions for an ethical vegan world and professional expertise—from the field of medical technology, then as an accomplished watercolor artist—to help found our mission of compassionate, cruelty-free living. Her pioneering spirit shaped the site’s distinctive blend of faith, science, and art, from hosting dozens of grassroots animal-protection organizations to sharing her own “God’s Creation in Art” gallery.
Although Mary unexpected passed on August 25, 2018, her vision endures at the heart of All-Creatures.org. Under the continued stewardship of Frank and our dedicated team, we remain committed to the values they first set forth: unconditional love, justice for all sentient beings, and stewardship of the earth.
As we honor Mary’s legacy this week and weekend, we invite you to carry forward her compassion in both word and deed by pausing for a moment of peace and picking up a pencil, marker, or brush to draw something from God’s Creation – it doesn’t have to be fancy – it just needs to be from your ethical vegan heart, as we ensure that her dream of a peaceful world for humans, animals, and the environment lives on.
