Please read Five Shocking Facts About the World's Worst Zoo
Five monkeys, two porcupines, two large tortoises, two birds of prey, an emu, a doe, a pelican and a tiger are on their way to safety.
Wonderful news! The Khan Younis Zoo is officially closed!
Yesterday at 6am the rescue team crossed the border from Gaza into Israel
with all 15 animals, the last "attractions" of the Khan Younis Zoo. Five
monkeys, two porcupines, two large tortoises, two birds of prey, an emu, a
doe, a pelican and a tiger are on their way to safety.
For some, their travel ended here: the monkeys have arrived in their forever
home at the Primate Sanctuary Foundation in Israel where they will enjoy
species-appropriate care for the rest of their lives.
For others, the journey has been much farther. Laziz the tiger has just arrived at our LIONSROCK big cat sanctuary in South Africa where he will soon be able to enjoy his own large, natural enclosure.
We are so happy for Laziz and all the animals!
