Dr. Robert Goodland - AWFW Climate Change Specialist & Board Advisor (2009-2013)
Dr. Robert Goodland - AWFW Board AdvisorYou probably know Dr. Goodland best for his 2009 World Watch Magazine article, "Livestock and Climate Change," which he co-authored with World Bank Group environmental specialist, Jeff Anhang.
The groundbreaking report was instrumental in demonstrating how animals raised for food contribute 51% of human-caused greenhouse gases.
Dr. Robert Goodland served the World Bank Group as their Environmental Adviser for 23 years, during which time he drafted, and persuaded the Bank to adopt, most of its current social and environmental policies.
He was honored in 2008 as the first recipient of the Coolidge medal for lifetime achievement in environmental conservation, presented by the prestigious International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
On a personal note, despite his ill health, Robert insisted that even if it was the last thing he did, he was going to make his annual pilgrimage this December to climb the Himalayas, which he accomplished. His wife asks that his friends "please pray for Robert's new journey in comfort."
We celebrate just a few of his many incredible contributions:
