This morning, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office raided Reichardt Duck Farm in Petaluma, California — one of the largest duck factory farms in the country — as the result of a breaking MFA investigation.

Like chickens and turkeys, factory-farmed ducks are subjected to horrific abuse from the time they hatch until they are violently killed at the slaughterhouse. A new Mercy For Animals investigation at one of the nation’s largest duck factory farms exposes sickening cruelty and criminal neglect of these gentle birds. You can watch the video here.

Hidden-Camera Footage Recorded:

• Baby ducklings having the tips of their beaks burned with red-hot metal
• Ducks suffering from illness and injuries without proper veterinary care
• Birds trapped in or under the wire cage flooring left to slowly suffer and die
• Ducks having their throats cut while still conscious and able to feel pain
• Bloody ducks mangled in cage wire, baby birds being burned, and workers throwing and breaking the necks of animals.

These shocking abuses, captured on hidden camera by an undercover Mercy For Animals investigator, have led law enforcement to take swift action against a massive factory farm.

This morning, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office raided Reichardt Duck Farm in Petaluma, California — one of the largest duck factory farms in the country — as the result of a breaking MFA investigation.

After they are “processed” at the hatchery, ducks are forced to spend their entire lives on barren, wire mesh flooring causing many birds to develop crippling leg deformities and other serious injuries. Countless sick or injured ducks, many of whom become trapped in cage wire, are typically left to slowly suffer and die from dehydration or starvation.

Ducks who reach market weight are violently shackled upside down and run through an electrified vat of water before having their throats cut open. Sadly, the first and only pool of water factory-farmed ducks will see is the electrified bath as they are hanging upside down about to have their throats cut open at the slaughterhouse.

The good news is that compassionate consumers hold the power to end the needless suffering and deaths of ducks and other farmed animals by adopting compassionate vegan diets.
