In an unprecedented action in Ireland ten sheep have been released from a slaughterhouse to Eden Farmed Animal Vegan Sanctuary. This is the first time that we know of, that animals in Ireland have left a slaughterhouse alive.

The sheep were spotted on a flooded island where they had waited for four days to be slaughtered. Once Eden became aware of their story we negotiated with the slaughterhouse and Department of Agriculture for their release. At 11.00 am on Tuesday 4th September 2019, all ten sheep were released to us.

Exploring their new home...

They had a one in billions chance of leaving the slaughterhouse alive. They are the among the very fortunate few to be rescued while the many die in their billions, unnecessarily and violently, individual after individual, every year, to feed the human demand for animal use.

Please consider making a donation to us to enable us to continue our work and care for these sheep.
