Kudos to Jo-Anne McArthur for having the courage to document human
inhumanity from a pig being clubbed to death in a Thai slaughterhouse,to a
sow in a gestation crate looking at a dead piglet near her crate and two
cows huddled together on their way to a slaughterhouse. Kudos, too, to
Martin Rowe for describing it all in verse that has the power and fire of
William Blake's poetry.
You may be inclined to look away. Don't. This is one of those rare books
that leave you a different (and better) person after you read it.

Stunned! This is a book I wished would not have needed to have been
written, and a book that is essential at this time. I could not wait to get
a copy of the hardback version, so bought the Kindle version a couple of
days ago. I was stunned by this stunning book. A marvelous marriage of
poetry and photography examining the abuse and exploitation of non-human
animals. It is not an easy read but a very worthwhile one. I would highly
recommend it.

“action” tank that investigates the role of industrial animal agriculture on
food systems, biodiversity, environmental pollution, the climate crisis,
public health, and workers rights. At Brighter Green I coordinate the Vegan
America Project.
Prior to my position at CAF, I worked as an editor and publisher for 25

religion, natural healing, and social justice. In 2020, he co-founded
Lantern Publishing & Media, a non-profit organization dedicated to carrying
on Lantern’s mission.
