REVIEWS

"If ever there was a children's book for our times, this is it. Instructive, values-rich, hopeful, sweet, and beautifully illustrated. Children will recognize our irrational prejudices toward animals and each other, and their hearts and minds will be open to respecting and caring for everyone, including themselves."
- Zoe Weil, President, Institute for Humane Education, Author of The World Becomes What We Teach

"Marv & Millie is a gentle, sweet and encouraging book. Its insightful pan-species message warms my heart and gives me both energy and hope."
- Jo-Anne McArthur, animal photojournalist, Founder of We Animals Media

"This charming, hopeful tale from the perspective of an insightful pig highlights the hypocrisy in thinking of some animals as family and others as food. Marv's sweet and simple message is a must read for children and adults of all ages."
- Mamta Jain Valderrama, Global SVP of Operations, Mercy For Animals

"Marv & Millie is enchanting and clever in the way it calls out our prejudices over different animals, showing how friendship and compassion can triumph over our differences. But most moving is the hopeful final scene of the two friends contemplating a world that is free of the cultural trappings that oppress some over others, in which all are treated with equal respect and love."
- Robert Grillo, Director, Free from Harm

"Marv & Millie is a sweet and understated story of friendship between two animals who consider their different fates and look to the future with hope that people will someday extend the same love and respect to Marv as they do to Millie. The story is hopeful even as it hints at how most people irrationally divide up the animals who kiss our faces from those who wind up on our plates. A gentle introduction to the injustice of animal agriculture."
- Sherry F. Colb, C.S. Wong Professor at Cornell Law School and author of Mind If I Order the Cheeseburger? and Other Questions People Ask Vegans

"Marv & Millie is a beautifully illustrated and thoughtfully written book that has the potential to engage, inspire, and enlighten adults and children alike."
- Dr. Melanie Joy, bestselling author of Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows

Marv & Millie is a fictional tale of the actual realities of our world, and its purpose is to shift our perspective; to see things from a different angle and to open our minds and hearts. If we can all live happy, healthy lives without causing so much harm (we totally can!) why wouldn't we?
