1. The Hog Industry’s Big Problem
Read this well-written article on National Geographic about the terrible problem of pig waste that many states are having to deal with. Pig factory farms are known to pollute streams and rivers, and to continue breaking state laws of how to dispose of pig manure. Of course, the high demand for pork increases this problem.

People can complain much about the devastation of God’s Creation including pollution; but as long as they continue to support industries, such as the factory farming one, those complaints carry no weight. The consumer is the one with the power to end this problem.

3. Bluefin Tuna Close to Disappearing Forever
Pacific bluefin tuna is at the brink of extinction according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Sadly, just in the last two decades scientists have seen a 33 percent drop in this bluefin tuna population mainly due to their indiscriminate fishing for human consumption in traditional dishes such as sushi and sashimi.

How sad it is that because of taste and profit God’s animals, such as the bluefin tuna, are killed to the point of extinction! If we truly cared about God’s animals and the rest of Creation, we would make choices that allow us to participate in the healing and reconciliation of God’s Creation.
Therefore, moving away from animal agriculture helps us align our Christian values with our food choices, and at the same time helps us move toward a more compassionate and harmonious world.
4. Bible Verse:
(RSV) Hebrews 1:1-2
In many and various ways God spoke of old to our fathers by the prophets; but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
Jesus Christ's teachings provide us with the tools to follow God's will. Jesus' teachings encompass love, compassion and peace, helping us be good stewards of God's Creation.
5. The Solution to Global Warming
The vast majority of scientists agree that global warming is a real threat and that actions must be taken to mitigate its negative consequences on the planet and its inhabitants. And, according to World Bank scientists up to 51 percent of greenhouse gas emissions are caused by the livestock industry. Therefore, surprisingly to many, the most efficient way to reduce greenhouse gases is to eat plants, instead of feeding plants to animals and then eat them.
