Why Is Chicken So Cheap?
When a whole rotisserie chicken at Harris-Teeter costs about the same
price as two bunches of carrots, we should ask ourselves: "How is that
possible?" Chickens, our health and the environment pay the price for
the low price of chickens in the US. Ezra Klein, for the Washington
Post, says: "... I sort of wonder how long we'll allow chicken producers
to compete on low prices derived from incredible cruelty to animals,
exploitation of illegal workers, and taxpayer subsidies to the corn
industry. It's a pretty ugly scene, and the product eventually ends up
on our plates."

The Low Cost of Chickens
The Bible tells us that cruelty to God’s animals is forbidden and
that we are called to be compassionate and merciful; however, chickens
are one of the most abused farmed animals and still we continue to
support such industry. Unless we take a stand for what is right, we will
see no peace in God’s Creation.
