Wal-Mart “Great Value: Eggs All Cage-Free
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. has confirmed that all of its private label
"Great Value" eggs are cage-free. As a result, The Humane Society of
the United States (HSUS) has decided to withdraw a shareholder
resolution it submitted to Wal-Mart last year calling on the company
to disclose its progress moving toward cage-free eggs. Although
cage-free hens may not be able to go outside and may have parts of
their beaks cut off, at least can walk, spread their wings, and lay
their eggs in nests as opposed to battery-caged hens who can't even
spread their wings and are denied of all natural instincts.

Wal-Mart: Private Label Eggs all Cage Free
While there is no need for eggs in a healthy well-balanced diet,
millions of people in the US still consume eggs. Egg-laying hens are
probably the most abused animal by the factory farming industry and
a very small step toward alleviating some of their suffering is the
transition to cage-free eggs. Of course, our faith calls us to be
compassionate and merciful toward all creatures and the best choice
in this case would be to stop supporting the egg industry altogether.
