Well, I am not sure I can explain that. Certainly during biblical times people ate meat and sacrificed animals and I am not aware of a directive by God not to do so. I do understand he wants us to be good stewards of this earth, however, and it is this point that I rely. Managing animals for use by man is being a good steward of this resource, whether it be by good game management practices or raising livestock for public consumption.
