Dear Barbara:

Thank you for writing.

If you really look at the passage about Jesus feeding the masses, you will also see that only bread was left over, which leaves an open question about how much fish was actually distributed and eaten. And we also need to recognize the fact that no additional fish were killed. Jesus only multiplied the pieces of the fish He was given.

The Bible also teaches us that we are to have a soft heart and not a hardened heart that has no empathy for the suffering of so called “food” animals. When we harden our heart toward the suffering of animals we also harden our hearts toward the Holy Spirit. We can’t have it both ways.

Jesus also calls upon us to be perfect as our Father in heaven is perfect, and to pray for His heavenly will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. And since there is no pain of death in heaven, then to do God’s will on earth would be to eliminate as much pain and death as humanly possible, which would include not raising and killing animals for food.

Is the reason you feel guilty and that we are judging you has more to do with the fact that you know in your heart and soul, that what is happening to the animals is totally unloving, and against the heavenly will of God?

We look forward to hearing back from you.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
