I have been reading the email newsletters and sermons and am so grateful there are Christians out there who feel the same as I do about animals and the unfathomable suffering many experience every second of every day.
I had trouble reconciling my Christian beliefs with my beliefs on animal rights and I struggled with this dilemma for quite a time. Most Christians dismiss any talk of animal rights and give examples of hunting or saving endangered species being unimportant and ridiculous to care about, and they completely overlook the horrors of animal testing, factory farms, circuses and the like. They do not give the latter as an example as to why we should not be concerned about animals. I think it is because many people would be jolted out of their world that is so disconnected from the truth when they hear of the completely unnecessary horrors experienced by animals. These animals that obviously can experience great suffering and pain like us.
I struggled with this disconnect as to why many Christians did not have a heart for animals and asked God why did he give me compassion for the animals if their suffering does not matter? Why do I feel such intense sadness when I hear their stories of abuse and torture if we are to be concerned about people only, not animals. And God truly spoke to me after I begged to know why I felt this way. He said that the animal suffering does trouble him greatly and that animals do matter and he hears their cries. This was a major breakthrough for me. I could reconcile both beliefs. And when I came across your website it was so reassuring and comforting there are people out there who care so much about the truth and helping all creatures. Thank you so much for everything you do. This quote below is one of my favorites:
"A strange lot this, to be dropped down in a world of barbarians - men
who see clearly enough the barbarity of all ages except their own."
~ Ernest Crosby
