Hi Joyce:
Being vegan is a lifestyle about doing no harm to any animals, which includes eating only plant foods, which could be junk food. This is a compassionate lifestyle.
But if we are only talking about diet and health, then we should be talking about a whole plant food diet that contains little or no processed foods. By just saying a plant based diet, we are including processed and junk foods. However, we could define the latter by say a whole, unprocessed plant food diet.
