What a beautiful story. I too had a bunny who was rescued from the outside. Jack lived with 5 cats in my partially finished basement.
I loved my feral cat Patrick for grooming him when I let Jack out of his cage for some freedom. Jack was probably an older bunny and was missing an eye, but he lived with us for over a year.
I loved preparing for him a "gourmet" dish twice a day with pieces of fruits, veggies, and rabbit pellets. Then one day he stopped eating.
The next morning I found him dead.
