This priest should look at the way Jesus lived and get back to basics about compassion and mercy. So many animals are enslaved and treated as production units. Brutality and cruelty are normal in our livestock industries these days, increasing production and making the products cheaper! Livestock farming, in most cases, is cruel and this industry assumes that animals have no feelings or pain and only exist to serve humans! Intensive farming is totally expoitative and shameful.

The earth's original inhabitants, Adam and Eve, were vegan! This should be the Christian ideal, before sin came into the world!
