Deer Management
Comments by Alejandro G. Cossio - 22 Aug 2007
I really appreciated that you included my story, history, and photos on your web site. I am very happy to share my photos with people that takes care of any animal, but also with wild creatures in distress and particularly with deer. See: Alejandro and the Deer
Because of my work as a wildlife consultant and deer specialist, I constantly deal with many people involved in deer management. Some of them seems to treat their deer as if they were only moving targets to shoot down, and never reflect any compassion or respect for them, but I have to recognize that some others really appreciate and take care of the welfare of the deer under their care, even the wild ones.
I always try to instill in their minds compassion and respect for any living form of life, and, even if hunting is the only advisable and practical tool or way to control the over population of deer in some areas in order to control their increasing herd numbers. It has to be done accordingly with ethic hunting principles, with utmost precision and quickness, trying to avoid any unnecessary suffering or cruelty with this ("apparently emotionless") beautiful animal.
God bless you both and I hope He'll give you more enthusiasm and strength to go ahead with your wonderful work.
Sincerely yours.
Alejandro
