Matthew 8:18-13

Genesis 1:3 – May He Be Light YEHI OHR

From Gary Blais

May He Be Light YEHI OHR

The standard reading of (Genesis 1 verse 3)
And GOD said let there be light and there was light.
The Hebrew reading - And GOD said, (May He Be Light and He Was Light)
We read in the Hebrew
ןישמר שלהימ יהי שור ויהי שור

You can say (May He Be Light) why? Because this word יהי (yeh-hee) is 3rd person masculine Singular Qal Jussive of the verb היה hayah. Hayah means to be.
May who be. This is the question we need to answer.
היה hayah in the 1st person is אהיה ehyeh meaning I am / I will be

Psalm 27:1 reads The LORD is (My Light) and my salvation, whom shall, I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

So may he be light means. He who was not visible. He came into being self-manifestation.

3 times in Genesis one it is written. Verse 3 Let there be light. Verse 6 Let there be firmament. Verse 14 Let there be luminaries. 3 times the word יהי (yeh-hee) from the verb היה (hayah) to be is written.
So it is meant as May He be Light, May He be Firmament, and May He be Luminaries

We already know He is (Light) Psalm 27:1 tells us this. But how can we think of Him as being the Firmament or Luminaries?

In Exodus 3:14 GOD said to Moses ehyeh asher ehyeh אהיה אשר אהיה Meaning I am that I am or I will what I will be, or I am what I will be, or I will be what I am. There is not only being but there is also becoming. Nothing that exists. Exists on its own. It is rooted in the existence of he who is. He is the root of all existence.

May he be firmament. May he be Luminaries
