Dear Maynard and others:

We know there were plants on dry land, and even trees, because the dove brought back an olive branch.

Furthermore all the animals and humans aboard the ark had plant food to eat for the entire 300 day journey. In addition, there had to be plant food on dry land for the animals to eat when they got off the ark, so it is only logical that there were plant foods for the humans as well.

There was absolutely no need or excuse for humans to start eating animals. This is why God said in Genesis 8:21 that humans are evil from their youth.
