Hosea 2:18: God's New Covenant between Man and Animal
Comments by Frank L. Hoffman - 1 Apr 2006
It seems appropriate that I'm writing these comments on April 1st, April Fool's Day, for far to many people consider a ministry to bring peace to this earth for both humans and non-humans to be nothing but foolishness. These are the people who exploit animals and continue to bring violence into this world, which is against God's will.
These violent people must also consider The Lord's Prayer to be nothing by foolishness, too, for they seem to want no part in having God's heavenly will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). The Bible teaches us that there was no death in Eden and that there is no death in heaven, so part of bringing God's heavenly will to earth must mean to eliminate as much death as is humanly possible. This would include eliminating the abominable suffering and death we inflict upon more than 50 billion land animals and countless sea animals every year, just to have their body parts on our plates. This ungodliness is further compounded when we consider that we no nutritional need for them.
As a society, we really need to think about what God wants us to do. We need to reflect upon the message given to us in Hosea 2:18, and do our part in helping it become manifested here on earth as it is in heaven.
18 "In that day I will also make a covenant for them
With the beasts of the field,
The birds of the sky,
And the creeping things of the ground.
And I will abolish the bow, the sword, and war from the land,
And will make them lie down in safety.NASB
It's time we make THAT day THIS day, and every day to come!
