Frank L. Hoffman Interviewed: Will Christians Ever Restore the Teachings of Jesus to Their Governments?
Comments by Stephen Augustine - 1 Apr 2003

Frank,

I think you put it very well.

What I would add is that the consequences of following Christ's teachings are pretty severe. More often than not they get you in trouble with the ruling powers and they will be construed as being subversive of the dominant power structures.

For some folks the primary implications of being Christian is that it's a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and it's mostly about individual salvation. For other folks the primary implications of being Christian are different than that with far-reaching implications for communities of humans and ultimately for all of Creation. Whether we intend it or not that has social, political, and economic ramifications.

In Christ's Peace,

Stephen
