I can not fathom how the church can not teach about the respect and protection that all Gods Creatures need.
I have in the past seen and known of such immense cruelty and suffering inflicted on animals, which is so unjustified.
An animal can not protect itself in most cases, especially when animals are at the hands of humans! Used, abused etc.!, in many cases for the sake of human vanities. How sad!
