In almost every situation the media sides with the land and facility owners, because of the violence and destruction that ALF causes, which includes the release of predators into the wild.
As a result the actions reported in the media sway public opinion which puts pressures on law enforcement and legislators.
The ALF's tactics just don't achieve any lasting protection for the animals, and groups the majority of peaceful Animal Rights people with them in the public eye.
