Throughout his 20 years at the sanctuary, he always chose to hibernate in artificial dens prepared by his caretakers and within the hibernation months, unlike other bears, he used to move from one den to another, looking for just the right spot to settle down in.
With a heavy heart, we are here to inform you that #bear Dobry is no longer with us.
At 36 years, Dobry was one of the oldest bears at BEAR SANCTUARY
Belitsa (@BearSanctuaryBelitsa), which we run together with
Foundation Brigitte Bardot (@FondationBardot ).
The former dancing bear was rescued in 2003 and despite being almost
totally blind, managed to live a relaxing life with his companions
at the sanctuary. For a long time, he shared his enclosure with Lady
M and they lived peacefully together.
Dobry had recently been moved to a new area of the sanctuary where he could live on his own due to his advanced age and disabilities, but he seemed to be faring quite well with his extra peace and quiet.
Throughout his time at the sanctuary, he always chose to hibernate in artificial dens prepared by his caretakers and within the hibernation months, unlike other bears, he used to move from one den to another, looking for just the right spot to settle down in.
We are very sad to have lost lovely Dobry, but happy he could spend 20 years under our care, knowing how it feels to be loved and taken care of the way these majestic creatures deserve to be treated.
Rest in peace beautiful soul!
