Vegan Pastor Frank explains what the Bible tells us about Jesus overturning the money-making tables in the temple of selling animals to be sacrificed. Jesus, throughout that part of history, challenged the Hebrew hierarchy of the useless and violent things that they made rules about that took the people away from God. This question about the tables overturned comes up frequently for Pastor Frank. And although there is no direct scripture mentioning it for the creatures, scripture supports that God wanted everything for us to start with compassion, love, and empathy. He didn’t want all the “have to dos” and “passing sins onto animals”. That is NOT what God teaches. That’s what corrupted man teaches, and because of this corruption people were not living as God wanted them to live. We also know that Jesus wants us to live in God’s heavenly will – in peace and joy forever and ever. So there is nothing to suggest that Jesus did not have the animals as well as the people in mind when he called out these useless, violent sacrifices.
