Dedicated to cruelty free living through a vegan lifestyle.

Vegan Pastor Frank explains that this is not a simple question, even though many people would like to hear him say “yes.” We know that fish were eaten by the disciples both before they met Him and then when they gathered sometimes, but there is no record of what they ate most of the time. We can assume that they ate like most others who were not royalty – and who did not consume meat on a daily basis. We also know that two primary sects lived more vegetarian lifestyles, but we cannot say that all of Christ’s disciples collectively were vegetarian.

The stronger point in this is that we DO know that some of the early Church Fathers were vegetarian, and that this practice was strong enough to be carried into the churches during certain times of the year. For example, in abstaining from flesh on Fridays during Lent or in traditions surrounding communion and refraining from eating animals beforehand. These practices invite us to think more deeply about why such restrictions exist at all! At the heart of them is an inherent understanding that taking a life is wrong and we should abstain from flesh consumption to be closer to Him. Listen closely as Pastor Frank explains much more…
