How cheese addiction wrecks your brain

From Switch4Good.org

Our new short film, Intervention, showcases the journey of a deeply dairy-addicted young man and how the casomorphins in cheese nearly ruin his life... until a group of loving friends show him a better way.

If every person on our email list shares this link even once, 106,000 new people will learn about the dangers of dairy and how to make the switch. The power is in your hands!

The foundation of the film is based on real science about casomorphins and their concerning effects on human health. Casomorphins are opioid peptides derived from casein in milk that can affect the brain in several ways:

Dopamine release – Casomorphins can cross the blood-brain barrier and attach to dopamine receptors, causing the brain to release dopamine, a neurotransmitter that produces feelings of pleasure and reward. The more casomorphins the brain is exposed to, the more pleasure a person may experience.

Competition with serotonin – Casomorphins can also compete with serotonin at opioid receptors in neural synapses in the brain.

Brain damage – Casomorphin can be responsible for most of the behavioral and cognitive symptoms of autism, and can ultimately cause brain damage. Some studies have found that casomorphin levels are elevated in patients with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD).

Gut–brain axis – Casomorphins may also affect the gut–brain axis through immunoinflammatory responses related to the gastrointestinal system.
