Cow's milk in the past has been oversold as the perfect food, but we are now seeing that it isn't the perfect food at all and the government really shouldn't be behind any efforts to  promote it as such.

The Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) has rented a high visibility billboard near Lambeau Stadium, home to Wisconsin's Green Bay Packer National Football League team.

The Packer's fans are often identified as those fanatics wearing cheesehead hats.

PCRM's ad depicts cheese as the "grim reaper" with this message:

Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmidt had this comment:

We are going to protect and defend the cheese industry. We love our cheeseheads and we love our cheese.

The Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board's director of communications, Patrick Geoghegan, added his nickel defense of cheese:

Everything we talk about in terms of nutrition and dairy is scientifically based. We don't play games with that, we take that very seriously and not all organizations do.
