At each of these institutions where Dr. Kalper did presentations, the response was very positive and signaled an openness to plant-based nutrition—not only at these schools, but across the North American continent and around the world. One young doctor at Nova Southeastern University Medical School wrote, “This lecture made me reevaluate everything I’ve learned!”

Dr. Michael Klaper

In February and March, I have made presentations to the medical schools and faculty at the following universities:

  • University of Rochester in NY
  • University of Florida in Gainesville, FL
  • University of South Florida in Tampa, FL
  • Nova Southeastern University in Davie, FL
  • University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, WA
  • Bastyr University in Seattle, WA
  • Boucher College of Naturopathic Medicine in Vancouver, BC

At each of these institutions, the response was very positive and signaled an openness to plant-based nutrition — not only at these schools, but across the North American continent and around the world. One young doctor at Nova Southeastern University Medical School wrote, “This lecture made me re-evaluate everything I’ve learned!”

Every day, I receive letters from nutritionally-aware physicians and medical students from across the U.S. and Canada, the UK, India, New Zealand, Brazil and other nations – all requesting information about plant-based diets and how they can incorporate plant-based nutrition into their local medical school curricula and their own medical practices. I am happy to send them supporting materials and an offer to give a presentation by Skype to any interested audiences they can assemble.

Last week, I spoke in Michigan at Oakland University and Wayne State medical schools as well as to several chapters of the Michigan Plant-based Nutrition Support Group. Next week, it’s off to Lithuania and Poland to present lectures to the Lifestyle Medicine faculty and students at the medical school at Kaunas and to give Grand Rounds at Warsaw University Hospital before returning home.

Your tax-deductible support of Moving Medicine Forward helps me:

  1. Create a core curriculum in plant-based nutrition that will equip health professionals-in-training with the practical information they need to apply plant-based nutrition in their clinical practice.
  2. Continue to lecture at medical schools throughout North America, giving students “the lecture I wish someone had given me when I was just entering medicine,” wherein I make clear that our patients’ diet is where to start when it comes to diagnosing illness and treating disease.
  3. Promote the formation of Nutrition Interest Groups at every medical school and keeping their interest up by regularly conducting “live” clinical nutrition rounds with the students and faculty by Skype and helping them find support in the local community as well as nationally and internationally.
  4. Research, full time, what is working in the few medical school programs that recognize nutrition and widely share the best of that knowledge.

I’m devoting the rest of my medical career to this nutritional awakening of the healing professions. Your help will make it more likely that I succeed in this mission. If you can donate, go to Michael Klaper, MD.
