"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
I just finished re-reading “Mary’s Mini-McDougall Diet – Not a Lifestyle, But a ‘Diet’” from the June 2006 “The McDougall Newsletter.”
Mary McDougall’s excellent article makes a lot of sense. She mentions how whole populations have thrived on potatoes as their main food. For some populations the food is sweet potatoes. In her article she lists the nutrients found in potatoes, as compared to the nutrients found in beef.
Diets centered on potatoes not only excel in nutrition, but are far more satisfying than diets heavy on animal products. Such a simple potato diet is very easy and effective for weight loss, and can serve as an introduction to a vegan diet.
