A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from All-Creatures.org

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Seventy – 3 November 2007
By Mary T. Hoffman

As I was going through some papers, I found a short poem that I had jotted down for my seventieth birthday, which was a couple of months ago.

Well, here it is – finally:

Seventy
By Mary T. Hoffman

Today I’m all of seventy;
How quickly time has flown,
With memories a-plenty
My book of life has grown.

There’s so much more to do
For creatures and their right
To live as God intended;
We have to shine the light
So they will be defended:

Expose their hidden pain;
Their suffering, replace –
So only good will reign,
Let kindness take its place.
