Although Bill C-205 is no longer a threat, there are chances a similar Bill could be re-introduced after the election is held.
A proposed ag-gag law in Canada, Bill C-205, died in committee after
news broke that a federal election will be held in September. LCA
would like to thank all supporters who took action against Bill
C-205.
Introduced by Conservative MP John Barlow, Bill C-205 was an
amendment to the Health of Animals Act and sought to create a
federal ag-gag law in Canada, making it illegal for whistleblowers
to document truthful conditions about what animals endure on farms,
in transport, and in slaughterhouses.
Bill C-205 was heavily supported by Members of Parliament (MP's)
from both the Conservative and New Democratic Party (NDP).
Although Bill C-205 is no longer a threat, there are chances a
similar Bill could be re-introduced after the election is held.
LCA monitors ag-gag legislation across North America and campaigns
against these dangerous laws as they arise.
