Letter from Louis A. Novellino Concerning Animal Rights - 17 Oct 2004

Bill Kunstler with characteristic insight called "animal rights" "the cutting issue of the 1990s." One can go further: Animal rights is the cutting issue of the new millennium. Barring the Parousia, none of us alive today will live to see the upshot of this perilous struggle to preserve, protect, and defend the biodiversity of life on this planet.

A few of us (but not enough) are trying to make a start in the right direction. It begins with the few, but we are still far too few, for example, to make "animal rights" a presidential campaign 2004 issue. But it is perhaps the most important political, social, and economic issue in the world today since it affects and underlies every other issue.

Louis A. Novellino
