Letter from Megan about Our Web Site, Health, and Recipes - 4 Apr 2005
I am so glad that I found your web-site today. I have been sick and in serious pain for months with intestinal, colon and bottom (I'm sure you can get my drift) pain. I have always been what I would call a semi-vegetarian.
I don't like the taste of meat, I don't like the taste of eggs, dairy makes me feel bloated and I've forced myself to eat it because that's what's "normal" and accepted.
Well, after a few months and one VERY long weekend in the bathroom in horrific pain due to some tacos made with hamburger and cheese, I was forced to come to the realization that my body does not process animal products.
Many years ago I watched a documentary on meat slaughtering and I choose for humane reasons to eliminate meat from my diet and everyone gave me a hard time. That following year I got pregnant with my first child and my military doctor told me that I NEEDED to start eating meat again. It's been 6 years and I was still feeling inhumane about my meat consumption and the way animals are treated and in chronic pain. Longer than planned, sorry!!
Anyway, I thank you for all the wonderful recipes and information. I am going to use your web-site to start planning on how to feed my family as vegans. I do have one quick question...can you feed your children a vegan diet or will this cause them harm?
Thanks for having such an awesome and informative web-site.
Megan

Dear Megan:
You've had quite a journey. We hope you're feeling better.
We have been building our vegan health section along with our recipe section. You should look at it, too. www.all-creatures.org/health.html
We know many vegan children, and there are several articles written by physicians in our health section. You should also look at the vitamin and mineral articles, and in particular the ones about B12 and Iodine.
We hope this helps.
In the Love of the Lord,
Frank and Mary
